New cleaners

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Version 2.2 of Clean My Screen is available in the App Store.
It has quite a few bug fixes and improvements but the main attraction is two new cleaners, Maggie a Basset, and Koza, a goat.

I’ll let them introduce themselves:

Koza
I am the original Femme Feta, my dear. And wouldn’t you agree, pigs are men? Right now I ‘m seeing an older Holstein named Fred. I just adore the way he moos me.

Koza
Hi, I’m Maggie. I will tell you right now: I’m a napper, not a biter.
But if someone comes in the room singing, “Wake up, Maggie” one more time, I’m going to roll over.

I like chasing sticks, leg hugs, having people pick up my crap, rolling in interesting smells, shedding with abandon, and farting. I hate porcupines and cheap dog food. I’m here to tell you, I’m some dog!

We’re also introducing our third app in the Clean My Screen family: Just Clean My Screen.

It sports all the cleaners of the full version of Clean My Screen but this app will also work on older and slower iPods and iPhones. In order to achieve that we had to remove the “Clean” and “Reveal” cleaning modes, so the cleaners in Just Clean My Screen will only lick your screen and not your photos. But it’s only half the price of the full version. I hope it fulfills the needs of all those people with those older iPods and iPhones.

Version 2.1

Friday, November 5th, 2010

A new version of Clean My Screen and Clean My Screen Lite is coming soon to the iTunes App Store. As always, it’s a free update.

This is mainly a bug fix update, but an important one. Here are some of the changes:

We fixed a serious bug on the iPad where the app stopped working after a while. Quitting and restarting the app didn’t fix it, only when you restarted your iPad Clean My Screen started functioning again. This was due to an Apple bug and unfortunately we couldn’t find a workaround.

The good news is that Apple is soon releasing an updated version of the iPad OS and they have fixed this bug. The bad news is that this version, iOS 4.2 introduced another nasty bug (you hear the sound of a cleaner, but you don’t see any licking), but that was one that I could fix. So all users should update to this version.

We also added another language: besides English and Dutch, both apps are now translated in French. Bonjour les français! (Et les Québecois aussi, naturellement.)

A lot of other smaller bugs were fixed in the process.

It’s quite annoying that Clean My Screen breaks with every Apple iOS update. We’re doing a lot of non-standard things, and we keep finding bugs in Apple’s code.

Hopefully we now can spend some time adding some other animals to the app.

New Version!

Friday, October 1st, 2010

The vastly improved Clean My Screen and Clean My Screen Lite are now available via iTunes.

New in this version:

  • New easier to use interface
  • iPad version
  • iPhone 4 graphics
  • Higher quality videos
  • Vastly improved performance and stability
  • Two new cleaners: Faye & Ray
  • Numerous bug fixes
  • And more…

We have some new cleaners coming soon, so stay tuned.
Since Apple’s iOS 4.0 update broke a lot of functionality in Clean My Screen we decided to fix those bugs first. That proved a bit more work than expected and adding an iPad version at the same time opened a whole new can of worms. However we succeeded and everything works great now.

Do you like the new improvements?

Update coming soon

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Hi, just a quick update from the Clean My Screen headquarters. We’re working hard on the next version of Clean My Screen and Clean My Screen Lite.

Expect bug fixes (the Clean-O-Gram and reveal cleaning mode that broke in the latest iPhone OS update), some new and improved features and some new cleaners. We expect to submit the updates in a few weeks to Apple, and soon thereafter they will be available to you, for free as usual.

Stay tuned…

Updated and Lite versions!

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

The wait is over!

The latest versions of Clean My Screen and Clean My Screen Lite are now available in the iTunes App Store.

Enjoy! And please let us know in the comments what you think about the new features and the new cleaners.

Note: Because we added two new cleaners to Clean My Screen the app is now a hefty 16 MB and only download-able when you use a Wifi connection and not when you use the cellular phone network. We might find a way around that for the next version.

Patience

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Tonight I got an email from Apple:

“Your application, Clean My Screen - 1.5, is requiring unexpected additional time for review. We apologize for the delay, and will update you with further status as soon as we are able.”

This can mean all kinds of things, but sometimes it means really long delays. Let’s hope this isn’t the case since we really want to show you all the new features.

Anyway, the update to Clean My Screen, and the brand new Clean My Screen Lite won’t be in the iTunes App Store .

If you want to complain about this delay, please complain to Apple, that sometimes helps to speed things up. The email to send your complaint to is iTunesStoreSupport@apple.com. Tell them that you are a user of Clean My Screen and you are anxiously awaiting the update, but that for some reason it hasn’t been available in the iTunes App Store yet.

In the mean time, you can watch videos of the new cleaners in action on YouTube: Chico and Roxy.

Thanks for your patience.

Update 1.5

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Some of you may be wondering: “Why are there no updates yet?”

Well, that has various reasons, but the main reason is that we had so many ideas for Clean My Screen that we didn’t know which of the new features we’d introduce first. So we put them all in at once, which was frankly not so smart because it was a lot of work, more than we had planned. But they’re in now, they work well, we’re exited about them and we’re sure you’ll like ‘em too.
I won’t spill them all but I can tell you about one new feature: Reveal Mode. If you select that mode in the Options screen the cleaner will lick, but instead of gradually licking the picture away, it will appear everywhere she has licked. A very nice effect.

On top of the new features, we also added two new cleaners: Chico the chihuahua, and Roxy, a boxer. Both very eager cleaners, each with a very distinct cleaning styles.

Okay, so when will this update be available? Soon. We submitted the update to Apple for review and we expect they will approve it soon. And then it will show up in iTunes and you can download it from the AppStore.

We also introduce Clean My Screen Lite, a free version of Clean My Screen. It sports less features and doesn’t have as many cleaners, but it’s a good way to try before you buy.

We’re really for sale now.

Sorry to everybody who still wants a free copy of Clean My Screen.

During the introductory promotion more than 40,000 people downloaded Clean My Screen! Of course they are all eligible to free updates in the near future.

Something that also will arrive in the near future is Clean My Screen Lite. Clean My Screen Lite will have fewer features than the full version but in return it will be absolutely free.

More about that soon.
